Dear Friend,
While traveling across the United States training church security and safety teams, a common thing happens. Upon arrival, and while getting setup, the team leader usually reveals a few frustrations he has encountered while trying to get everyone on the same page.
While some team leaders are former law enforcement or military, the vast majority of team leaders have little to no security training whatsoever. Many leaders and team members are regular citizens with a CCW Permit. Most simply have a great and deep desire to protect their church family against anyone threatening their safety and well-being.
I know how hard it can be trying to herd a bunch of guys together on a Saturday or Sunday to do some training. It can be almost impossible, especially during football season.
Once you've been able to match up everybody's schedule to do a few hours of training, the question becomes what in the world should you teach them?
More than a few leaders have revealed they feel ill-equipped to train up the team to the level they require to do an excellent job. Worse, sometimes personalities on the team make the training process miserable for everyone.
While hiring an outside trainer like me can solve some of those problems, I realize hiring an outside trainer is cost prohibitive for most churches. This has left me feeling frustrated because I know the importance of training when it comes to protecting you and your church from liability.
So I had an idea. Why not create an in-depth, comprehensive course that includes every aspect a church security ministry volunteer needs to know so they can become certified in as little as 45-60 minutes per month.
Who Am I And What Qualifies Me To Help You?
My name is Glen Evans. I am the co-founder of Church Security Alliance and the co-author of Basics Of Church Security. I have helped thousands of people with their church security program via email, telephone, live training, and as a consultant.
In my free time, I perform the job as a police officer with 27 years experience (24 in training), and as a firefighter and EMT for 13 years. I have been a safety and security speaker, trainer & consultant for 20 years.
I've created a monthly training program called Church Security Basics, which I have taught nationally in live events. I have also certified church security trainers through my website ChurchSecurityTrainer.com.
Over the last ten years I have closely tracked and reported violent incidents that have been perpetrated against churches. Theft, vandalism, robbery, bombings, burglary, suicide, homicide, mass casualty incidents have regularly been committed against the faith community.
In response, churches have installed security equipment and developed safety and security teams in an effort to proactively protect those who come to their church.
I have taken the calls from church leaders, concerned deacons, and security team members on weird, suspicious and violent events that have unfolded within their church and how they were handled. Sometimes they've been handled well and sometimes they haven't.
Most of the time the team members had the best intentions, but their lack of knowledge and training exposed them to legal liability, embarrassment in front of their church members, and bad press in the community.
This does not have to happen to you or your team. Your team simply needs a few critical skills that can carry them through a difficult situation without making things worse. Under stress, with all eyes upon them it is important to appear professional and caring, while making sure your church is being served well.
Ten thought provoking, skill equipping lessons designed to be consumed quickly and delivered on auto-pilot directly to your team members' email box.
Critical skill development from liability reduction and verbal deescalation to armed active attack training.
You decide how to deliver content to your team whether it be online or in a group setting. Whatever makes it easy for you.
